TREATMENT
BOTOX® to reduce lines and wrinkles usually take effect after 3-5 days; however it may take 2 weeks for the maximum effect. At this moment you will have a review appointment by Dr Rita.
The effect lasts between 3 to 6 months (average 4 months). Patients who have had several injections often find the effect persists longer.
BOTOX® is an effective treatment for frown lines and forehead lines. Side effects are uncommon and minimal.
POST-TREATMENT ADVICE
The following precautions are to be observed immediately following the injection
- Do not shampoo the hair or have a scalp massage.
- Do not wear anything tight on the head (hats, caps, hair bands etc.)
- Do not lie on the treated area.
- When cleansing the skin do not apply pressure - use only gentle upward strokes.
- Avoid leaning forward and bobbing up and down (cleaning, which may involve a lot of bending, clothes shopping in dressing and undressing).
- Do not have a facial massage or treatment of any kind.
- Do not take any form of exercise or yoga.
- Do not take any aspirin or drugs containing aspirin.
- Do not take vitamin E or consume alcohol.
- Do not take long haul flights for 24 hours
These precautions limit the spread of the BOTOX® from the site of injection.
PRE-TREATMENT ADVICE

Contra-indications 2 days before:
- CACI
- Micro-dermabrasion
- Electrolysis
- Laser
- Any electrical beauty treatment
SIDE EFFECTS
There are several possible side effects of BOTOX®, but are minimal. There may be a mild stinging sensation as the injection is performed. Mild weakness or paralysis of the eyelid (ptosis) or brow may occur with drooping of the eyelid or brow, lasting usually 2-3 weeks. This is temporary and may not even be noticed by the patient. The incidence of ptosis is approximately 2%. The other side effects include transient headache, numbness or bruising, which are uncommon.
